June 18, 2016 – UNews is honored to be named one of Houston’s 2016 Emerging Tech Startups to Watch in the Houston Chronicle. Each year, the Chron takes note of Houston’s best and most promising public, private and startup companies.
The list is comprised of Houston startups chosen by local experts who recommended companies based on their product, progress and potential for growth.
“We’re thrilled,” said CEO and President Leigh Frillici. “It affirms our mission to connect people to the stories they care about while boosting a broadcaster’s mobile news experience and revenue stream.”
UNews was developed by veteran TV news journalists Leigh Frillici and Keith Connors. This unique app features a customized newscast drawn from a local broadcaster’s content. It is designed to increase a broadcast station’s digital ad revenue and give the viewer a news experience that they want to come back to again and again.
“After running some of the best local newsrooms in America for more than two decades, it’s become clear the future of news is mobile,” said Co-Founder Keith Connors. “The future of mobile is video. And the future of mobile video is UNews! If you want to see where the local news business will be in five years, you need to see where UNews is today.”
